Fun at Bethelwoods
I just remembered I haven't posted about our Bethelwoods Retreat. Nothing's better than a few days away from home with quilting buddies. Twelve people went to Bethelwoods and enjoyed the peace and quiet.....NOT! When 12 quilters come together, there's everything but! We all had a wonderful time and a lot of work was done. The food was wonderful as usual. Jo's an awesome cook. She even came through with chicken and dumplings after a slight accident with the pavement! (Sorry, no pics, I promised her). We each took an item or two for a little auction we planned. Our pocket change auction soon got out of control and we raised more than $100 as a donation to Bethelwoods. The donation will be used to provide a child an opportunity to experience summer camp at Bethelwoods. I've posted pictures on the Bethelwoods Retreat page.

Another Great Shop Hop
The 9th annual Carolina One Stop Shop Hop was a huge success! There were over 300 shoppers during the day and everyone had a great time. Thanks to everyone who supported us and all the Magic Needle and Piecemakers guild members who worked so hard to make this event possible!

MARIE'S SEWING & QUILTING
216 WEST NORTH MAIN STREET
WAXHAW, NC 28173
704-843-5950 or 704-575-0640
Upcoming quilting classes at Marie's Sewing & Quilting. These classes are for you who have been wanting to learn the basics or enhance the skills you already have. Classes will be for all levels. We start out by discussing sewing machines, fabrics, and supplies. The schedule will be done based on those interested in beginning, intermediate, and advanced quilting. To begin, Tuesday nights will be the night classes and Wednesdays will be daytime classes. Classes will be for 3 hours for 6 weeks and a Block-of -the Month is scheduled for the 2nd Saturday of each month, beginning on March 14th at 10am. Due to the huge response for this BOM, there will also be a 1pm session to accommodate all the people who have signed up. All block patterns will be $5 per month and each new pattern will be available as the prior month's block is completed. A list of fabrics and supplies will be given prior to starting the project in order for you to have adequate time to make your purchases. All classes will be taught in a studio environment at 216 West North Main St., Waxhaw NC. If you have an idea for a class that you would like, let me know, but I will need 4-6 interested students. Class prices will vary based on the type of quilt that will be taught. You may contact me at 704-843-5950 or 704-575-0640.

QUILTS OF VALOR PROJECT
Quilts of Valor is our latest project for our Guild. When this was discussed at the October
meeting it was not a surprise that every member had someone in mind for a quilt. As the
daughter of a World War II veteran and the wife of a Vietnam veteran, I can think of no
better way to honor someone. They are all special!
We have chosen the Missouri Star Company Big Star quilt pattern as the one to make.
It can be a small or large Quilt. The also have a great tutorial to go by.
Thank you to all members who will be participating in this project!
Submitted by Angela Faulkenberry
Since this project started, several quilts have already been made and presented to veterans. Everyone is invited to make and present their own QOV, using any appropriate pattern. You are asked to please submit the veteran's name to Angie so that person's name can be placed on the QOV website as having received a QOV. This is an on-going project and you can join us at any time in our meeting room at the Primetime for Seniors center in Lancaster to work on your project.
CAROLINA ONE STOP SHOP HOP
It's time again for our annual Carolina One Stop Shop Hop. Tomorrow, Feb. 28th, 2015, is the big day for our 9th shop hop event. It will take place from 9am-4pm in the Bradley Bldg. on the USCL campus. Guild members who have volunteered to help are expected to be there at 8am. Don't forget your goodies for the bake sale. More information on the 2015 shop hop can be found on our shop hop blog at www.carolinaonestopshophop.blogspot.com.
STARTING ALL OVER WITH THE BLOG
As usual, the best laid plans to keep the blog going fell by the wayside. Time has passed and it's almost the end of February, 2015. I thought about just starting over with a brand new blog, but hated to get rid of all the great pictures and projects from earlier. So, I'll just leave the blog as is and continue it by adding all the news from the present time.

Life Happens and I Get Way Behind!
Once again life gets in the way and throws me way off. Better than the alternative, I guess. I haven't updated since early November, but found November's Show & Tell I had already uploaded, but not posted. Here they are.
SHOW & TELL
SHOW & TELL
Cherie's making a Tic Tac Toe with x's & o's
Joanne made this wonderful pastel baby quilt for a G. grandchild.
Oh Judy, what do we have here? Judy made this from something she saw on Alex Anderson's show quite a while ago. She's now embellishing it with beadwork. She took a beading class at QSC retreat.
A sample of stitches Judy learned in the class
Another of Judy's class projects. See the dangles on the bottom?
This was another of Judy's projects from a mystery quilt class at QSC.
The stockings were all made by Christine. She said she calls them trash stockings because they're all made from scraps she fished out of other quilters' trash cans!
Our newest member, Nadeerah, made this gorgeous quilt! Her color choices are wonderful!
Time for the Emma portion of Show & Tell. We're beginning to think she never sleeps! This is a finished prayer quilt she made from sale fabrics bought a week ago!
Emma didn't make this one. She just quilted it and put the binding on for someone else!
Jo created a monster when she demonstrated English paper piecing last meeting. Now Emma is hooked. We'll probably see a finished Grandmother's Flower Garden in the near future.
Emma made 2 bags from a pattern she got at QSC retreat.
And she SMOCKS, TOO! This is Emalia's Christmas dress.
Angie's QSC beading class project. She 's got dangles, too!
Angie's sample bead stitches.
A block Angie did to play around with shadows.
This is my bag from Ginny's workshop in Heath Springs. This one I'll put away til next summer.
